Can't control my philips hue lights from google home app anymore

CapitaineChien

Hello,

I've been using google Home in the past to control my philips hue lights without any problem. Few months ago I decided to use the Hue app to do so, now for some reason my lights in the Home app lost connection but I can still use the Hue app without any problem.

I tried to add my lights again but the Hue app doesn't appear on the list ! I also can't dissociate my lights because again I need to find the Hue app on the list, which is missing... I even tried to use the Matter association code from the Hue app to link Hue to Home again, but I get an error message saying I need a hub (a have the philips hue hub which should be working for matter).

This has been bothering me for days now and I feel like I have no clue anymore why nothing is working. I would appreciate any help. Thank you

I suspect Google has screwed something up with home control. Some of my lights will work and some will not. When this started a week or so ago, I also had some audio commands that have always worked for my Sonos system also stop working with Google. Both Sonos and Phillips work fine with their native apps but not with Google.

I am having the exact same issue. Has anyone found a fix yet?

Philips hue is missing from the 'Works with Google's list. I can unlink faulty devices. I'm on the verge of binning my Google home devices, had a few issues recently...

I tried to clear cache and delete all data on the Home app, even tried to delete the app to start over but no fix yet unfortunately.

Maybe the problem came with the last update?

I have reported the issue via the Google Home app. If you have the Google One app you can report the issue there too, ask them to call you. It seems to be a known issue with Eufy, they did not seem aware that Philips Hue was affected (I think I'm the first to contact them). You'd think they would look at these forums a bit more. If you contact them they will give you a code to add to a big report to add it on to the correct ticket. I urge you all to contact Google via Google One.

So you are saying that Eufy devices on the network can cause this?

No, Eufy devices are just also affected.

Somewhere, someone has apparently fixed the issue. My Phillips hue lights are behaving normally again.

Yes I feel like something has been made from Google. My app can find them now, but I can't control them and the app shows some of them turned on when everything is off.

Small update, the Home app doesn't detect my lights anymore.

Hi there!

Thanks for posting here in the community. I understand you're having trouble controlling your Philips Hue lights through the Google Home app, even though they work fine with the Hue app. It sounds like you're unable to re-link or dissociate them through the Google Home app, especially since the Hue app isn't appearing in your Google Home's list of linked services. No worries, help is here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Is the light offline on the Google Home App?
  • What is the name of your light?
  • For example, in the room named 'Bedroom', is there a light named 'Bedroom Light' too?

Once I have these details, I can assist you better with the specific information.

Melany

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Here are my answers :

- Currently my Home app shows all my lights as "no connexion". In reality some of them are turned on ;

- My whole apartment is filled with Philips Hue lights, I have around 10. Their name is the place, for example "Rideaux", "Lampe piano", "Entrée" etc ;

- In my bedroom I have a light called "Chambre" for instance. Most of the time the light keeps the name of the room, but sometimes not (ex : TV1, TV2...).

Thank you for your assistance.

Any news on the issue?

I have sent feedback twice and there is still no response, no updates, no recognition beyond this thread. It is really poor. If it continues like this I will just go to a self-managed home assistant or Alexa.

The communication on a fix for this issue is poor. There are no updates, there are no fixes. When can we expect a refund for our Google Home devices?

Ha anyone been able to get a resolution to this yet? I still can't sync anything or get new bulbs set up properly. Getting very frustrated...

Still not working for me too, when I try to turn on a light from the Home app it shows an error message...

I'm trying to find out which ombudsman to go to as I believe that by owning the products we do we should expect some level of communication that is far better than what we have had so far. If anyone knows of an ombudsman or commission that we can complain to then please do tell me. Google, despite my many attempts, will not acknowledge what I have been saying to them as a complaint and are avoidant when I ask who I can escalate to. There must be a consumer protection law that applies to this woeful support.
