Family link account no longer can link any Works with Google apps

My daughter's family link account used to be able to link to 3rd party Works with Google apps within Google Home.  Now when I try to relink her account to services such as Roborock, Philips Hue, XBOX, myHue, etc. she receives an error message.

I have tried doing this from 3 different devices:

  • Her main phone, Pixel 4a says 'Could not reach (name of 3rd party app). Please try again.'
  • A factory reset Pixel 5 says ''Could not reach (name of 3rd party app). Please try again.'
  • Her iPad says 'Something went wrong. Try again.'

In each instance, the process does successfully create the necessary entries on the 3rd party website as well as in her Google account profile under Third-party apps & services.  As the manager of her Family Link account, I also receive an email that her account was granted access.

However, at the end of this process, it fails to add the devices in her Google Home app.  This prevents us from referencing the devices in any routines.

I've tried wiping the cache and app storage of her Google App, Google Play Services and Google Home.  I've tried deleting all third party services from her Google Account and from the 3rd party's sites.  I've power cycled all devices and router.  I've tried enrolling her account into the Google app and Google Play Services beta.

Since this error is persisting across different devices, I can only assume there is something wrong with her account, but I don't know what else to try.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi jonkrohe,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Were there any recent changes to her account supervision that were made recently? Check out the link below to learn more about it.

Thanks for the reply.  There have been no changes that I'm aware of.  I've scoured Google settings and Google Home settings looking for anything that could be pertinent, but I haven't found anything.  Is there any specific setting you'd advise me to check?  Also, since the 3rd party access is actually being granted within her Google account and the 3rd party's website also acknowledges the link, it seems like she has the necessary permissions.  But for some reason the final Google Home update to show the devices fails.
