Google assistant on LG TV always offline

We have an LG TV with Google Assistant that I'm trying to set up in my Home app. It seems to be really buggy. Using the QR code method where the TV gives a code to put in, it adds it into my home but it's just permanently offline.

I also can't even delete it - only option is to "Unlink Service" but it just brings up a list of 'works with Google' apps to remove.

The TV is connected to my account, though. I can hit the google assistant button and get personalized answers out of it. How do I get rid of this from my Google Home app?

Thanks

Hi Biggsyboi,

Thanks for reaching out and for the information you've shared. Does your TV have a built-in Chromecast? Check out this link, and you can remove it from there. Once done, you can relink it to the Google Home app.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Juni

Hi there,

I just wanted to follow up to see if you still need our help. Please let us know, as we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks,

Juni

Thanks Juni.

The link brings me to the list of authorized 3rd parties like in the Home App. Deleting the LG ThinQ doesn't get rid of it. The only thing on the list I can see on the web page that's not on my Home App is "SmartThings OAUTH" - I don't think it's anything to do with SmartThings?

I have the TV in my Google Home twice - once through linking to my LG ThinQ Account which is now working (I can control the TV), but then the Google Assistant on LG TV is stuck there and permanently offline.

Where the working one says "Unlink LG ThinQ" and "Connected through" LG ThinQ", the permanently offline one says "Unlink Service" and nothing about what it's linked through.

Hello there,

Understood. Do you have a home member added to the Google Home app? If so, Check their account using that link and check if your LG TV is linked to their

account.

Best,

Juni

I've not had a chance yet to check my house mate's phone. What I can say, is that I was the one that set it up, not them. So unless it would just randomly go onto their account when I put in my own email address, then it's not connected via their account.

Hey there Biggsyboi,

Apologies for the delay! We’ll be waiting for an update from you about checking other accounts on your Google Home app. In the meantime, it would help us a lot if you could contact LG ThinQ TV to know why the Google Assistant is not responding and is always offline. We rely heavily on third-party device integration processes for its features to function properly.

Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,

Dan

It turns out the TV got set up onto my room mate's account. No idea why, he wasn't even present at the house when I set the Assistant up on the TV and both the speaker and TV were logged into my Google Home account. The house is just shared with his Google Account.

Hello Biggsyboi,

Thanks for the update! All the Google Accounts added to your household as a member will have access to the devices in the Google Home app. I’m glad to hear that you were able to sort it out.

Let me know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Warmly,
Alex

But I didn't, it showed as always offline (as per the screenshot) and then when I went to delete it from Google Home to try and re-add it, I didn't have the option to remove it. The reason turned out to be because it got added to a Google account of a person who wasn't even present in the house when I added it, and both the phone and TV were signed into my own Google Account. Can't explain how it happened.

Hi there,

Strange. Has your roommate tried to check Third-party apps & services to see if he can remove LG ThinQ? Another workaround you can try is to create a new home. Within the new home, check if the LG TV is still showing. If not, you can just move all your working devices from the old home to this new home. You can visit Share a home and devices in the Google Home app for steps on how to create a new home and move the devices.

Best regards,
Alex
