Indoor Nest camera not receiving notifications

Hi ,


purchased in door nest camera. 

I tired but I cannot receive notifications. 

appreciate any help.

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.


This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. A few things: which Nest Doorbell model do you own? Are you trying to get notification from the Google Home app or Nest app? Are you able to stream your Nest Doorbell via Nest app or Google Home app? Check the steps below on how to enable the notification on both apps.


Home app notifications:

  1. Open the Home app <icon>.
  2. On the home screen, tap your camera.
  3. Tap Settings <icon>.
  4. Select Notifications.

Nest app notifications:

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. On the home screen, tap Settings.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Select the camera that you want to change alert settings for and select from the options below.

It's me again. I want to make sure you're all good — how did the steps go?

I get notification to my google app but I don’t get an email notification . Is this normal ? It’s good enough I guess but I thought I’d get an email also. 

Also it seems when the nest cam recognizes me it’s doesn’t send a notification when I’m on the cameras view. Is this normal ? I’m assuming that’s the recognition feature….

I’m sorry for the delay. Email notifications aren't available in the Google Home app for 2nd gen Nest cameras and doorbells only push notifications. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — we'll take this as feedback. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community page for any updates.
