I performed a factory reset on my Google Home speaker. In the process, my Kidde smoke alarm became disconnected. I cannot reconnect it -- I'm directed to download the Nest app, which I do; but when I attempt to connect the smoke alarm I end up in a recursive loop: Nest "add a device" screen, identify device lookup, log into Kidde screen, Nest "add a device" screen, identify device lookup, log into Kidde screen, and so on ad nauseam. There are also problems with the groups, namely an old group pairs the pre-reset Home with a speaker, while a new group pairs the post-reset Home with the same speaker, but only one of the two groups actually works on both speakers. Perhaps I should have pretended the post-reset device was in a different room...

Hi @Scmrak,
Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're having some issues with your Kidde smoke alarm. It sounds like the device disconnected when you performed a factory reset on your Google Home speaker. Additionally, you're unable to reconnect it, and your speaker groups are experiencing some pairing issues with two different speaker groups. Let me help you with this and answer your questions.
First off, please remember that third-party devices need to be connected directly within the Google Home app. The Nest app doesn't allow you to set up other devices; it only accepts Google devices. Please refer to our help center article, "Connect third-party smart home devices in the Google Home app," for more information.
Now, regarding your question about whether it's possible to completely delete the Google Home app: this isn't possible because your account has already been created, and the app holds all your data. However, if you want to start fresh as an alternative, you can create a new home structure within your Google Home app. This option allows you to start over with all your devices.
Please let me know if you have any other questions! I'll be happy to answer them.
Best regards,
Debora
