I subscribe to Spotify.
Spotify is my selected music service on Google Home and is shown clearly on my phone.
In the house when I ask a speaker to play music it plays from Spotify.
In the car if I ask Google to play music it tries to use YouTube Music.
Why?

Hello Navrig,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
Not being able to get the most out of your favorite music service on your devices can surely be troublesome, but it's okay, let's see what's going on.
I want to know which device you're trying to play music in your car with. Do you have a speaker in your car, or you want to play music from your phone? If so, it would be great to check the settings on your Google Assistant in your phone by following the next steps.
Let me know what you find out.
Regards,
Angel.

Thanks Angel. If you look at my first post you will see a screenshot from my phone showing that Spotify is the default music service.

Hello Navrig,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Could you please tell me which devices you typically use to stream music? Knowing more about the specific speaker you use in your car and the model of phone you have will help us investigate further and determine the best solution.
Please also let me know when you first noticed this occurring. Was it a recent development, or has it been an ongoing issue since you first acquired your devices?
I'd appreciate any more details you might have!
Regards,
Angel.

Hi Angel,
I use my mobile phone. It's an Oppo A77. It connects by bluetooth to the car system. If I do it manually it works fine but if I try to activate music handsfree the phone (Google Home) tries to connect to YouTube Music despite Home being linked to Spotify.
It started in the last month or so although I don't use voice control on Home very often, preferring to choose my music before I start driving.
I have had this phone for over a year.
I do not use Android Auto with this car.
I have Smart speakers in the house and when I ask for music they connect to Spotify.

Hello Navrig,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I appreciate you're taking the time to figure out what's causing this strange behavior with Google Assistant.
As a last step, do you have any other devices, like a phone or tablet, that you can use to request music? Please ensure the default music service on this device is set to Spotify. You can adjust this setting in your phone's assistant settings, not the home app.
Trying with another device will let me know if this is related to your specific phone model or something we might have to investigate further to get it working as expected.
Let me know how it goes,
Regards,
Angel.
