Hello,

I'm trying to play spotify through a sonos beam gen 2. When i ask google to play music it responds with:

"sorry it looks like you have not set up your account on this media service provider yet"

It does this for youtube music too.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Hi Nomusic16,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I apologize for the inconvenience that you are experiencing with your Google Home device, your Sonos speakers and the Google Assistant when playing music through Spotify. But no need to worry, help is here.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  1. When did the behavior start?
  2. What Google Home device do you have?
  3. What's the firmware version of your device?
  4. Do you have any issues with other apps or only with the Spotify app?
  5. Is your Spotify app working correctly on other devices?

In the meantime, let's check some basic troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Default Music Service: Ensure Spotify is set as your default music service in the Google Home app.
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Tap on your home or group.
    • Tap "Media & Audio."
    • Under "Default music service," select "Spotify"
  2. Device and App Updates: Ensure your Sonos Speaker, Google Home devices, and Spotify app are running the latest software versions. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements.
  3. Restart Devices: Restart your Google Home devices and your speaker to refresh the connection.
  4. Google Assistant Settings: Check if there are any specific settings related to music playback in the Google Assistant settings. You might need to adjust preferences or permissions.
  5. Clear Cache and Data: As a last resort, try clearing the cache and data for the Google Home app. This might resolve software-related issues.

Additional Tips:

  1. Try Different Voice Commands: Experiment with various commands to see if Google Assistant responds differently.
  2. Check Internet Connection: A stable internet connection is essential for streaming music.
  3. If you have any other error or issue with your Sonos Speaker, contacting manufacturer support is recommended. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps based on your Sonos Speaker model and any error codes you might be encountering.

You can also check the following guide to Listen to music on Google Nest speakers and displays and Link your music services and set your default service.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Mario
