scrolling camera feed crashes app

Hi there,

hopefully you guys are already working on this however. When I scroll the camera feed on my Google home app (new version) it is loading every single event in (I'm presuming) full quality. in other words 100's of videos are buffering which instantly fills up the ram and crashes the app.

My phone is a Galaxy S23 ultra so it's no slouch!

it's also very very frustrating to actually search events. Trying to find if someone has been to the door in say a 12 hour period, you're scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. Needs to be more user friendly, but I know you guys are working on things a nest a lot more than so I have my fingers crossed!!

Thanks

Jonny

Hi there!

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear the camera feed crashes the app. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What kind of Nest camera do you have?
  • Do you have a subscription?
    • If so, What kind of subscription do you have?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Clear the app cache and data: This can sometimes resolve performance inconveniences.
  • Reduce video quality: If you're using a high-quality camera, you might try reducing the video quality settings in the Google Home app to see if that improves performance.
  • Update the app: Ensure you have the latest version of the Google Home app installed.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany
