DISASTER OF A MOBILE APP / HOME HUB

 

Why would you spend even a minute of development time working on a TV app when your native app is missing critical features? When your home hub product is unusably unreliable?

 

Immediately:

- Add a scrollable vertical timeline with events of the type that we filter. (like the nest app)

- Add a smoothly scrollable vertical 24/7 timeline from iOS, iPadOS, nest home hub

 - Add ability to save clips on iOS, iPadOS, Nest Home Hub

- Remove this stupid “turn off camera” button blocking the view of the camera from the iOS and iPadOS app. Why would this be a button you’d think people would need over the ability to easily view history/save videos?! 

- Allow keeping the camera views up 24/7 instead of timing out and returning to the Google Home main screen!

-Allow the event history view to remember what filters were previously chosen like the old nest app!

- Add ability to access history easily from main camera view (Really?!? Hide history 2 layers deep in the UI?)

ITS BEEN A YEAR. WHERE IS THIS FUNCTIONALITY?!?

There was a beautifully designed nest app for cameras and you didn’t even consider what was good about it and keep what was good? 

The new app is terrible because it’s missing essential functionality! This is beyond frustrating. Beyond the frustration of a 2 app experience. Your delivery of apps to meet your new hardware launch doesn’t meet the mark and your lack of an IQ camera replacement is beyond terrible!  Provide us a 5mp camera with excellent motion night-vision at a competitive price!

FIX THE NEST APP SO WE CAN USE IT IN THE MEAN TIME. 

If you aren’t going to roll out these new features in a timely manner, Fix the old Nest app so our accounts aren’t logged out every 2-4 hours On iPad, forcing us to have to re-login or use the new home app. This renders it worthless!!

Our company is recommending everyone go with Reolink. Recommending to avoid Google products altogether until this is fixed!

I got this chrome cast stick, but I can't download and install both fubotv and disney+ app. This really frustrating because I have to be watching games and movies from my laptop instead of the TV after spending $70 on the stick. I am in Regina, Saskatchewan Canada. It's frustrating

Hi Folks

I am new to the chromecast concept, so please excuse my ignorane.

I have a HD Sony TV supporting HD not 4k.  Question is... considering purchasing Google chromecast system, is it feasible to purchase the 4k option knowing it wont give 4k image on my screen, but hoping to use this and use on a new device when I upgrade to 4k TV soon.

Buyer beware: This device is incapable of surround sound, well unless you consider unfixable audio delays....capable.

Hi all, ive just bought the new chromecast with google tv, im moving home soon ,my question is will the chromecast work off just my mobile phones internet hotspot , or will i need to have broadband installed into my new home to use it

Good news.

I downloaded the update last night Oct 17, and then found the mute and sound buttons didn't respond. I wondered if I would have to pair again the remote but before trying that I rebooted the tv system and all is back in order. Works great. As a hint, sometimes rebooting any system solves a problem.

I have this new Google TV HD Chromecast, with newest firmware.

2 problems,

It is not working in a speaker Group in Google Home, can create the group with both devices but cannot select speaker group after i created the group, with voice or manually select speaker group from media in google home also not possible.

if i select the group in spotify, it works correct!

From media in Google Home i can select the Google TV HD Chromecast with another google speaker together without problems. Without selecting the group.

And the other problem is, ambient mode not working. It goes to ambient screen and after a few seconds it displays the home page of the Chromecast again.

Other people with the same problems?

I Factory reset the device, without the system update, but exact same problems.

When it originally came out, there were many people who didn't like that the Chromecast dongle only played media from Chrome or apps on Android and iOS. Yes, it could browse the web, but other than that it wasn't much of a media streaming device which is what Roku does really well.  So you can check https://expertbox.io/telemedicine-saves-doctors-money and get more new things about the medicine. But Google recently announced that Chromecast will now be able to play any kind of audio and video in HD quality through services like Netflix and YouTube.

I've tried pairing two separate Bluetooth headphones and neither are able to connect. Is the HD version missing features that the 4K version has?

I still can’t get my CCwGTV to deliver Dolby Digital surround audio (for a system that can’t handle DD+) Google don’t seem interested in fixing this despite multiple community threads and users raising this. I’m told other streaming sticks don’t have this problem so consider if you plan to buy.

How did you determine it was not functioning? Was dialogue really quiet or do you have a receiver with format readout?

Not certified for use with BBC iplayer. Very poor - especially as it surfaces BBC content on the home page then tells you you device is incompatible when you try to play it!!

For me surround not wording is clear as my AV receiver shows it is only getting 2.0 over digital connection not 5.1.

EDIT - I’ve since seen a help topic by Samsung suggesting my tv will not pass a surround signal from HDMI to optical (despite surround being output from included tv apps) so check if your tv has this limitation if using optical. The other flaw I’ve seen others mention is CC not downmixing DD+ to DD.

I received the Chromecast 4K today. And so far, it's all around disappointing.

I have an LG C9 and the picture is amazing when I play video games or watch Netflix. But there's something off with the Chromecast, it's like the brightness is half of what it should be. This is unmistakable when I open the channel ribbon on the TV, and it shines on top of the dull content. I checked the settings: 4k 60 Hz, HDR (YCvCr 4:2:0 10-bit). Should be fine, but no. Also, the UI is not 4k at all, there's nothing sharp. I checked the HDMI debug menu of the TV and the signal is 4K. I guess the UI is just not.

I configured the language to "English" but I keep getting trailers in German, or trailers in English but with German subtitles. Never had this issue on Netflix.

Now, the catalog. I bought "Dune". The picture quality is passable (definitely not 4k, which I paid for) and it's way too dark (again brightness issue). Then I looked for "Arrival" and found the movie is not available in 4k and it's only in German! Looked for "Working Girl", it's locked behind a Disney+ subscription…

Needless to say, I'm sending back the thing.

EDIT: I'm watching "Dune" with the TV's YouTube app and it's day and night. The brightness is correct and it looks 4k, although "internet" 4k, you know… ruthless video compression.

Hi, I've set up my account and two kids accounts on the Chromecast and Google tv. Is there a way to pin lock only the adults account but allow the kids to switch between their accounts? Also, can the system request the user to choose the account each time we access it turn on Google tv?

I would check all connections to be sure they are not loose and then reboot the entire system to see if that helps. That is a first step.

Hi,

 

I have a new Chromecast HD. 

I bought the Ethernet adapter for stability, but it seems like it defaults to WiFi most of the time, I tried switching off wifi off on the Chromecast and even then it wasn't picking up the Ethernet connection. It only seems to connect occasionally. I know this was a previous issue but I haven't managed to fix

Is this latest Chromecast, or in fact any Chromecast, able to display Google Photos in full resolution? Currently they get chopped back to 720p, which is crazy if both  photos and TV are 4K.

I received a Google TV 4K (Sky) from my son as a gift last year. Google store order number 6861-3741-3055.  We received it on August 31, 2022.  The remote is defective and will not stay paired.  I manually resumed it when it first happened this morning.  Then while I was at work, it lost connection again.  I tried several time to re-pair it but it will not.  The batteries have been replaced with brand new ones.  The Google TV / Chromecast works find using the app on my phone but the remote will not pair.  Please help!

Hi, first time user so please bare with me 🙂

So I have an older Samsung smart tv and I am trying to cast Apple tv from my iPhone but I am not getting the casting box on my phone?

 I do have a chrome cast device but it’s a few years old. Should I be buying the new one or is there something I can do from my end?
