Installed nest battery doorbell yesterday. All works well except not receiving doorbell ringtone on iphone. Google home App notification is ON for the doorbell. I get an alert that the doorbell was pressed just no ringtone as i get with my other hard wired doorbell thru the nest app

Google Nest doorbells are designed to ring an indoor doorbell chime if the doorbell is wired and the chime and transformer meet requirements and if the "Indoor chime" option is turned on. They are also designed to send a "Visitor announcement" to Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers if that option is turned on. If push notifications are turned on, they are designed to send a standard notification to phones and mobile devices associated with household members, but there's no option to produce a doorbell ringtone on associated phones and mobile devices.

thanks for the reply. I understand that it is by design that the battery doorbell does not ring on my Iphone. While i think the design could certainly be better as is the case with the nest hello doorbell, there is no sense leaving this thread open unless there is a plan to update the design. Thanks

There is no doorbell ringtone on our iPhones when a Google Nest doorbell is pressed. All that's available is a standard iOS notification. (We've had Google Nest Hello Doorbells for 3 years.)

Is this by design or is something setup wrong with the Nest battery doorbell in the Google home app? Seems odd that a doorbell would not ring in the house when the button is pressed outside. Isn’t that the purpose of a doorbell? It’s interesting that the guest can hear the ring outside but I cannot hear the same inside. This leads me to believe that I have a setup issue.

Hello everyone,
@DShanks thanks for posting here in the community. I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. Were you able to read the information that MplsCustomer has shared? Also, I just wanted to make sure if you're referring to the ringtone from your mobile phone or from your indoor chime?
Looking forward to your response.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
Best,
Emerson

I cannot here any doorbell ring on my iphone or i pad. I fo get a standard iphone notice when the doorbell button is pressed but is like every other apple single ding notice. I understand this by design but it is a bad design. After all a doorbell needs to notify those inside the house that someone is at the door. The battery nest doorbell does not ( unlike the nest hello doorbell that i have on my front door).

Thank you for sharing your feedback and experience with us regarding your Nest Doorbell (battery). It is true there isn't a standard ring that you may be used too, but if you set up a smart speaker or display, you can see or hear the chime or ring over those devices in your home. If you do not wish to go that route, it will send you a notification to your mobile device.
Best regards,
Brad
