Constantly missing people at the door

Hi there.
how it is possible that I can’t change anything related to notifications.

I found out that doorbell has no chime, and send just standard notifications to my phone which are lost in any other similar notifications.

my previous smart doorbell was CALLING ME if there is some one pressing the button. I thought this is the standard practice when I was switching to google. Now I missed four times delivery guys with packages which made me going to delivery center instead.

please change that asap. Those standard notifications are lost in daily routine, and they receive no priority. Nor I can really understand when there is someone captured by the camera or someone ringing the doorbell. Notifications are same!

If you do not have an existing indoor doorbell chime and cannot wire your doorbell, you could get a Nest Mini or Nest Hub and turn on "Visitor announcements":

Can I have a chime to battery powered doorbell?

I have two mini speakers and a nest hub and it doesn’t work either. When someone rings the doorbell they do a very weak sound and it is very easy to miss, especially when the house is big and there is music playing.

I don't know what else to suggest. "Visitor announcements" on our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini are definitely much louder than our wired doorbell chime.

Hi there,

Thank you too, @MplsCustomer for your help on this thread, and your helpful suggestions' with visitor announcements. That would be the only suggestion I would have as well. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Why don’t to put this into backlog. I can see that’s a quick fix, and a lot of people complaining.
The the next hub and nest mini are also not loud, especially when kids are busy playing loud, and there is background music. Or when kid is talking to google assistant - you can’t extract out of this background voices - that now she talks to you…

why can’t I adjust notification

or use one nest mini as a chime and put it at max

or/and make adjustable notifications in assistant as well - so the volume can be increased to max and there would be a selection of sounds to be played…

please don’t make me going back to my previous smart doorbell…

Hello folks,

@Filipp8880888 to confirm, have you tried turning on the visitor announcement from your Google Home app? If not, hit the link that MplsCustomer shared above. Turning that on would make your Nest mini ring or tell you that someone's at your front door.

Keep us posted.

I appreciate your help, Brad and MplsCustomer.

Emerson

Hi Emerson,
Thanks for checking. It is on (just double checked). But you mentioned "would make your Nest mini ring" - so what happens today - it does very weak sound and announces the visitor with the voice assistant, which is why we do not pay proper attention to it.
What would help if someone rings:
1. all speakers (unless they are in DND mode) get their volume to the MAX
2. there is a real RING/BELL sound (can be a selection of presets, like you have already for doorbell itself)

And as far I understand, if speakers were playing music before on a low volume - the volume stays at that level, unless someone doesnt make it louder inbetween for whatever reasons...

And I am not sure if there is a real added value in assistant telling you that there is someone at the door, comparing to the UX i mentioned above...

Hey Filipp8880888,

Yep — that's correct. Your Google mini should be on max volume and if it's playing music and on a low sound, the music stops and the volume will stay the same. The volume will depend on your Google mini volume. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take this as feedback. You can submit feedback from the link that Brad shared.

Thanks,
Emerson
