First (?) Gen wired camera not working

Profemeritus

Hi. I had what I assume is a first generation nest wired camera.  It has stopped working.  One problem is there is no factory reset button.  Does anyone know how to reset this camera?  Also, the power wire has disintegrated from the weather.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.  Thanks!

Hello Profemeritus,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. For 1st Generation Nest cameras, there is no button to reset them; you just need to unplug them for 10 seconds, then plug the power adapter back into the outlet. Could you please send us a picture of the wire that has been broken apart?

I look forward to your response.

Best,
Edmond

I spoke to someone at Google and was told it was out of warranty and there was nothing to be done.

Hi there,

We appreciate you responding to us. If the wire attached to the power outlet is the portion that is broken, we can check with our support to see how we can help you further; however, if the line is connected to the Nest camera head, it will be covered by the warranty.

Regards,

Edmond

It is that wire.  But it is out of warranty.  How do I send you a photo?

Hey there,

If you are referring to the wire that is connected to the Nest Camera head and it’s no longer out of warranty period we can no longer process a replacement for that.

Below are the steps on how to upload a photo or video:

1.  Hit reply or Start a new post.

2.  Click Insert Image.

3. Choose an image source location.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions Also, you can tap the "Drag and Drop" option. Maximum attachment is 5 MB.

Best,
Edmond

Hello there,

Thanks for the photo. Since the wire that is broken is attached to the camera head, it appears that your Nest Camera has to be replaced. However, as you pointed out, this is already over its warranty expiration date, thus we are unable to provide a replacement.

Best,
Edmond
