Floodlight Cam keeps restarting every minute when trying to setup

Hello,

I am trying to set up my newly installed Nest Cam with Floodlight. I followed all the installation instructions and turned my power back on, but have run into an issue where the floodlight seems to keep restarting every 1 minute give or take.

Here is the sequence: 23 seconds of flashing white light (powering on) > 14 seconds of flashing blue light > ~25 seconds of solid blue light.

I am unable to set it up in the app, but I assume that's because it isn't consistently powered on (the furthest I get is one step past the "Preparing your device" stage). I have already taken it down and redone the wire nuts, so I'm not sure if this is usual behavior or what the issue is.

Can anyone help? Thank you!

Update: I took the camera portion down and plugged it into a wall-plug that I had leftover from my Nest Cam w/ Battery. I factory reset it, but it still has the issue where it restarts after about a minute. Perhaps a faulty camera unit?

Hi zacht183,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community and for sharing here your update. It could be that it's a faulty device and that behaviour is unusual. Make sure you properly reset it to the factory default.

To reset:

1. Locate the reset button on the back of your Nest Camera.

  • Tip: The reset button on your Nest Camera is located on the back of the camera head.

2. Press and hold the button:

  • At 10 seconds, the status light will flash yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
  • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the camera starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.

3. Release the button. Your Nest Camera will restore to its factory settings.

4. After the factory reset, your Nest Camera will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.

To remove it from the app, open the app, tap on the device, then tap Settings> Remove device > Confirm.

5. To learn more, you may visit our public article about “Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell”.

After the reset, make sure that it has a pulsing blue light indicating that it’s ready to connect.

Best,

Emerson
