Floodlight staying on

Blaker84

Hi guys.

so I’ve had my best floodlight cam for about 10 months and probably the last six or so the light just stays on constantly. I have the motion sensitivity set to low, and only detecting motion should turn it on and camera events. The floodlight timer is also set to only 10 seconds and the daylight sensor is set to darkest and it still stays on all night long. It will only record when a cat or someone walks by it but the light is on all night long. What should I do? Would deleting it and reinstalling it work? Thanks.

Hi Blaker84,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Camera with Floodlight doesn't turn off. Could you select Lights on the home screen of your Google Home app and turn off the light then let me know if it works?

Best,

Zoe

Sorry for the late reply. I can manually shut it off. But once it’s triggered to turn on it just stays on.

Hi there,

Gotcha, and I'm sorry for the delayed response. Here are some troubleshooting techniques you can attempt if the light on your Nest floodlight cam doesn't go down even after you've specified the proper settings and turned the motion sensitivity down:

  1. Try turning off the power to the floodlight cam by disconnecting it from the power source for a few seconds, and then reconnecting it.
  2. Ensure that your Nest Floodlight Camera has the latest firmware installed. You can check for updates through the Nest app or the device's settings.
  3. Within the Nest app, you can try resetting the floodlight cam's settings to their default values. This can be done by navigating to the device settings and selecting the option to reset the settings. After the reset, you can reconfigure the desired settings.
  4. You can try removing the floodlight cam from your Nest account and reinstalling it if it continues. This entails uninstalling the device from the app and resetting the setup. Please be aware that erasing the camera will erase all of the recorded video, so be sure to first back up any crucial ones.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
