I have 2 floodlight cams mounted on the TOP of my house. They've worked "fine" but I needed to change them to a new network (fiber). For reasons that baffle me, Google decided you have to remove them and add them back. What are we in the 90's? I have the MYQ garage door opener and keypad and they let me go right in and change the network. Take notes Google.
Now that said cameras are removed, when I go to add them back I keep getting this connecting to joining device nonsense. WHAT IS THE JOINING DEVICE!!!!!! Is it my phone? Is it another camera or the thermostat? Is some satellite in orbit? If I have to go up a ladder to these cameras, they are coming down and I'm looking at another brand.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Ok we had to get a LOOONG ladder (they are mounted at the roofline of my house), brought both cameras down and did a factory reset then put them on the correct wifi.
We recently got fiber and I DID give the new wifi the existing SSID and password but I had to hold onto the cable modem a little longer and these 2 cameras somehow decided "let's use that network."

Oh and I've paused every Google or Nest device on my network and still nothing. I even tried to setup a new "home" and it asked if I have any devices, I said no and it STILL wants to join to this mysterious device

Hello, I'm an end user like you. You are not alone. there are literally 100's of people complaining about the difficulty to connecting Nest cameras to WIFI networks.
So google thought in their design that when adding a Nest Camera to an environment that already had any nest products that it would save us work but connecting to a nearby NEST device to get the WIFI info. And if that fails the never gave us a way to manually enter the wifi.....HUGH MISTAKE on their part.
So to make this work you want your phone, the floodlight cam and the connecting device go all be close to each other because I believe they call chat via Bluetooth (I'm not sure on this). So if you near by connecting device is a nest some detector you need to hit the button ONCE on the smoke detector to wake it up which results in it connecting to your WIFI. Some people have also reported that turning OFF your cell phone's CELL connection so that only works on WIFI helps the process move forward.
I hope this helps. Let me know. If it doesn't work then I believe your next step is to open an official support ticket and speak with a google tech person. Here is the link to get that process going....
