Google Cam + Floodlight Installation on Ceiling

DanielGray
Community Member

Has anyone installed a Google cam + Floodlight on a ceiling rather than on a wall? I.e the body being vertically ‘hanging’ rather than horizontal off the wall. Any issues or reasons why it shouldn’t be installed this way? Photos all look to be from the wall, can’t find an example from the ceiling.

Hi DanielGray,

Thanks for reaching out. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us. We value your feedback. It is recommended that the Nest Cameras should be placed between 1.8m and 2m high for optimal detection.

You can check this article on Tips for camera placement for more info.

Steve

Hi DanielGray,

Hi Steve,

Thank you for responding, I did see it. To be honest I didn’t find it very helpful. I was asking if the camera + floodlight could be installed from a ceiling, hanging vertically. Instead of what seems to be the standard installation on a wall, coming out horizontally.
That is what was ideally addressed in regards to my question.
Nevertheless, I have since installed it from a ceiling which is probably 2.2m high, over the front door area and it has been working excellently.

Alls well that ends well.

Thanks again,
