Google Home Hub and Cameras

I have 3 outdoor cameras. They are picking up herds of deer, heron or fox that stroll through my yard.

Now, two of the cameras aren’t recharging.

And, my Doorbell camera no longer allows me to save video clips.

What’s up with all of the software changes? Time to switch to Ring? Wyse?

I invested heavily in 3 Google Hubs, 1 Thermostat, 3 Smoke Detectors (now trash since they no longer make them), wired Doorbell, and 3 outside wireless security cameras.

Seems the entire Google Home System is now obsolete since the updates are making them useless. @support

ISO suggestions: which multi-product brand is the best? Is there another brand that works on Google Hubs?

Hi Homeowner3,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that two of your Nest Cameras aren't charging and that your Nest Doorbell isn't saving video clips after the Google Home app updates. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.

For better assistance with your Nest Cameras and Nest Doorbell, please respond to the following questions:

  • What are the models of your Nest Cameras and Nest Doorbell? (Here is a helpful article on how to identify the type of Nest Doorbell and Nest Camera).
  • When did the situation start?
  • Do you have a wired or a wireless setup?
  • Are you able to check the camera feed in the Google Home app?
  • Did you receive any notification from the Google Home app?
  • Did you notice or experience any power outages recently?
  • Do you have an active Nest Aware Subscription to your Nest Cameras and Nest Doorbell? If yes, what type of Nest Aware do you have?

In the meantime, please check the battery status in the Google Home app by following these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
  3. Select the camera from the list of devices.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Under Device features, tap Battery.

Please keep me posted on your findings.

Regards,

Byron
