Google Nest Doorbell Zone Image

Rosscull

Hi Everyone,

I’m trying to set up my activity zones in the Google Home app on my iPhone and the image that the app decided to use is a poor quality night vision shot that doesn’t allow me to precisely make my zones because it’s not clear and I can’t really seem to tell where my lines are. Does anybody know how you can change that image? Because I cannot find anywhere the option to swap it out.

Thanks!

Did you get this working?  Maybe try unplugging the power for 20 seconds and let the camera reboot and see if you get a different image.  Keep in mind this might be most easily done by tripping the circuit breaker that powers the transformer rather than pulling the doorbell off the wall (which is difficult given the design)

Hi @Rosscull,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand you're having trouble setting up an Activity Zone for your Nest Doorbell in the Google Home app because the poor night vision quality is making it difficult to select the zone. I appreciate the detailed information shared. Don't worry, I'd be more than glad to help you get this sorted out. To better assist you, I have a question for you:

  • Have you already tried the suggestion that mdr2 shared? If so, what was the result?

Since the quality of the image is the primary issue, let's try adjusting the video quality settings in the app. Please try setting the quality to the maximum:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • On the Home screen, select your Nest Doorbell.
  • At the top right, tap Settings > Video.
  • Please select the Max setting to see if the image used for Activity Zone setup improves. (Note: The Max setting uses more bandwidth.)
  • High setting uses a smaller amount of bandwidth. To get a general idea of how much bandwidth Nest cameras and doorbells use, refer to Internet bandwidth and speed requirements for Nest cameras.

@mdr2, thank you for your contribution.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,
Jonathan
