We have it wired direct with a switch to turn off light in house. When snowing and blowing hard it kept turning on. So shutoff switch. A day later we turned on. Now we get battery empty. Why

Most of the responses in this forum are from other customers.

My guess--as a customer who has a Google Nest Camera (Battery) but NOT the Google Nest Camera with Floodlight (wired), is that when you turned off power to your camera, the camera continued running on battery power and depleted the battery.

Furthermore, you mentioned that it was snowing and blowing when this happened. Last week, Google Nest disclosed that its battery cameras and doorbells cannot charge at temperatures below freezing (see the link below). This Google Nest Help posting does NOT mention the floodlight camera. In fact, there seems to be no official statement by Google about battery performance in the floodlight camera. There are, however, other postings in this forum by customers reporting problems with the floodlight camera's battery. So my guess is that the charging problem in the post below also applies to the floodlight camera.

Our battery camera works fine in cold weather, staying "Live" with the battery at 100% even at temperatures as low as -18 F (-28 C), but ours is plugged in all the time.

@Brad  or @MelbaDT , as Google Nest Community Specialists, can you please verify whether the cold weather charging limitations for Google's new battery cameras and doorbells in the above post also apply to the new floodlight camera?

Hi folks,

Sorry to hear about your experience @Terryll. Appreciate the help @MplsCustomer. Yes, the Nest Cam with Flood light uses the same 3.65V lithium-ion batteries, and one characteristic of li-ion batteries is that they cannot be charged at temperatures below freezing (32F/0C).

Steve
