Google nest doorbell

It won’t ring on phone.  Can I get this to happen?  Or can I get it to ring and send video to Alexa?  How?

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response, and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I understand how upsetting this may be, and I'm happy to assist you with this. The Nest doorbell (battery) does not use a standard chime. In fact, you cannot use a standard doorbell chime with it. You will want to use a smart speaker or display to use, which will send you an alert instead. You should also receive a notification on your phone if someone presses your doorbell. You can learn more here

Best regards,
Brad

I know that. I got the battery because contractors pushed the wires into the wall. The doorbell does not sound on my phone. And I have tried to get Alexa video to connect but can’t do it can you explain how ?

 Thanks.

@Mdeeq

If you have the Nest cam (battery) or the Nest doorbell (battery), you should only receive a notification on your phone. No ring will sound. Not unless you have a smart speaker or display set up.

If someone comes I get a ding on my phone. But no notification for a doorbell ring.  I also have an Alexa video display. Can I connect that and get a doorbell?  How.

@Mdeeq

Here is a great article that goes over how to set up a smart speaker or display to use with your camera. I hope the article does the trick.

Thanks. No luck. I have google nest (battery) new. I would like to connect it to my Amazon echo.  I want to hear a tone when someone rings it.

@Mdeeq

I am afraid that changing the chime isn't an option with the Nest doorbell (battery). I understand this is an inconvenience, so please let us know how your experience went. We’re always looking for ways to improve, and appreciate your feedback. You can send it at any time using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback," or by following the steps found here

Best regards,
Brad

I did not suggest changing the chime. I’m trying to get my new google nest (battery) to connect to Amazon echo.  It will not. So, does everything need to be on the same google account?

Hello Mdeeq,

I understand your concern about connecting your Nest doorbell to your Amazon echo.

Alexa can announce the following Nest camera and doorbell events:

  • Doorbell press: Alexa announces when someone presses a Nest Doorbell (battery) or Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). Some Alexa devices with a display also automatically stream live view from the doorbell.
  • Motion detection: Alexa announces when a Nest camera or doorbell detects motion.

You can follow the steps here. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks,

Emerson

It doesn’t work. Now…the nest products Arron my account. The Amazon Alexa is on my wifes account.  Does the doorbell need to be on the same account as Echo?

Hi Mdecew,

Thanks for reaching out and I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. We have steps here that you can try:

 Turn on doorbell press announcements

  • Open the Google Home app and then touch and hold your doorbell's tile.
  • Tap Settings and then Doorbell.
  • Turn on visitor announcements.
  • You can now turn doorbell press announcements on or off in the Alexa app.

Alexa doorbell announcements are only supported on Nest Doorbell (battery) and Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen).

To know more about this issue, just hit this link. Let me know if you have any additional questions from here.

Best,

Emerson

Thanks. Must the Amazon echo be set up on the same google account as the doorbell?

Hi Mdecew,

Thanks for getting back to us. It's not necessarily that they should be on the same Google account. With your Google Home App, your Alexa can discover your devices. Try these steps:

Add a new Nest thermostat, camera or doorbell:

  • Add your Nest device to the Google Home app .
  • At the top right of the app home screen, tap your account profile and then Home app settings.
  • Tap Partner Connections and then Amazon Alexa.
  • Turn on permissions for your new device.
  • Say “Alexa, discover my devices.”

Keep me posted.

Best,

Emerson

See my question above. Everyone seems to ignore it.
