Google smart speaker doorbell notification

We don't seem to be able to get a suitable doorbell for my 89 year old mum. I have had a thought though and need to know if my thoughts are correct and if so, which doorbell do I order for her that isn't too expensive.

We have set her up with 2 google speakers in the past. A Google home smart speaker (in the lounge) and Google nest smart speaker (in her bedroom). This is incase she falls and can't get to the phone. This works perfectly.  She is not able to use a smart phone so it doesn't need to have video, just a doorbell that will notify her when someone is at the door (and maybe even a speaker so she can speak to the person through any of her speakers). We are happy to buy another mini to go in her back room.

Is this possible? Preferably battery operated and not wired.

Any suggestions would be greatly received so she can stop panicking. (The cheap sets we have brought in the past stop working too often so please don't suggest these).

Thanks

Hi Cazz44,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. The Talk and listen feature is not available in the Nest speakers. If you want to have a talk and listen setup with your Nest Doorbell (battery) without a smartphone, you may buy a Nest Hub Max display. This way she can see who's at the front door and can speak with them. She can also use a voice command to view the camera of the Nest Doorbell with the display.

To learn more, you may visit our public article about “Talk and listen with Nest camera or doorbell”.

Thank you :-). But the speakers would still ring when the doorbell is pressed if I set it up with Google home?

Would a 2nd generation nest hub smart speaker with screen work? She doesn't want to pay a lot of money and the max is too expensive, even with black Friday deals but Argos have the above at the right price?

Thanks

Caroline

Hello Cazz44,

Thanks for getting back to us. That is right. They would communicate with each other and your Nest speaker will serve as your indoor chime. As of the moment the Talk and listen is available in the Nest Hub Max.

Regards,

Emerson
