How to reset wired nest outdoor camera to join new router

I have just moved house  which has Nest outdoor cameras.  The devices is set to interface with a wireless router that no longer exists( registered to previous Owners ) .The devices cannot connect to the Internet. I have npbeen able to scan their qr codes but can not unplug from the mains as they are too high . I am able to switch off , but when switch back on I think they are still looking for old router

I would like to reset these devices so that I can add them to my Home through my wireless network.

The Google Help page has not solved my problem, at least insofar as I understand its advice.  Its instructions are:

  1. Disconnect your camera from power by unplugging the power adapter from the electrical outlet.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Plug the power adapter back into an outlet. Your camera will restart.

Yes, the device will restart, but it does not appear to reset.  The Home app does not seem to recognize it as an available Nest cam.

My question:  What is the recommended procedure for changing the wifi settings of a device that is already set to look for a wireless network that no longer exists?

Thank you for your help,

As I said above, if you have 1st gen Google Nest Outdoor Cameras that are installed in the Google Nest app, all Google Nest says is that you can try to wait until the previous owner's Nest Aware video history has expired: "After the previous owner's video history has expired, which can take up to 60 days, you'll be able to pair the camera to your account. If you're unsure when the video history will expire, check again in a week or two." https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9249728

But some users in this forum report this doesn't always work. If the previous owners have been gone for a year, their Nest Aware subscription on those cameras should expired. But maybe they still have those cameras on their account.

You could try contacting Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

The instructions you cited are for a "Restart" on a 2nd gen Google Nest Indoor camera.

Your post says you have Google Nest Outdoor Cameras, which are 1st gen cameras installed in the Google Nest app. If that is the case, you need to scroll down in that Help topic to the "Factory reset" instructions for the 1st gen Google Nest Indoor and Outdoor Cameras, which require that the camera be removed from the Google Nest app while still connected to the old Wi-Fi network.

If the previous owner did NOT do that, then they left you with unworkable cameras that are still registered to them. Google Nest provides the following instructions for this case:

"After the previous owner's video history has expired, which can take up to 60 days, you'll be able to pair the camera to your account. If you're unsure when the video history will expire, check again in a week or two." https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9249728

If, on the other hand, you actually have 2nd gen Google Nest Battery Cameras, you'll need to follow the "Factory reset" instructions for that camera in the same Help topic you cited, before reinstalling them in the Google Home app.

We have been in the house for nearly a year and have no contact with previous owners so how do I pair the cameras if there is an account associated with previous owners

thanks
