Lost the outdoor camera. Need to reconnect to Wi-Fi

Hi there,

I had to do the maintenance work on the socket my camera was plugged into. After reconnecting my camere stayed off line in the NestApp. It wasn't found. I have the message to reconnect to the Wi-Fi. I went outside to scan the QR code off my camera and found the re is not green light on the camera.

Now my question is. How can I check the power supply to the camera. Is there any way of testing the power adapter? I tested the socket. All other devices plugged in works fine.

I do not believe my camera got buggered just by power it off.

Any ideas?

Sometimes, if there's a power outage, a couple of our Google Nest Outdoor Cameras won't come back online until I unplug them for a short while and then plug them back in.  Others in this forum have also commented on this; it's a pain for customers with cameras at locations not close to where they live.

Hey folks,

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

We’re sorry for the trouble. No worries, we’ll check this out. A few questions: did the camera work when it was first installed? If yes, how long has it been since installation? Is the customer using the USB cable and adapter that shipped with the camera? Is the Nest Cam Outdoor’s cable securely connected to the power adapter? Does the USB cable fit snugly into the port on the adapter? Also, are there any kinks or frays in the cable?

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

  1. Make sure that the camera cable and adapter are securely connected.
  2. Push and twist the USB connector into place. Then, plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  3. Inspect for damages on the cable. Remove or reinsert the USB cable from the Nest power adapter. Watch the LED light for any changes. If the LED light blinks, or the camera power cycles. Wait for five seconds, then plug it back in.
  4. Move the camera and plug it into a different working power outlet.
  5. Unplug the power adapter from the power outlet and from the locking USB cable that connects to the camera.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT
