Nest 2nd Gen Battery Camera

DavidKP
Community Member

I just purchased 2 Nest 2nd Gen Battery Cameras for out door use that will be powered 24/7.

How do I add these new cameras to my Nest Aware Account?  The Nest App doesn’t show the new cameras and the Google Home app doesn’t show how to enable the new cameras on Nest Aware.

FYI - All cameras do show on Google Home…

@DavidKP

Google Nest decided that the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website. We've been using 2 apps ever since getting the new battery camera in Sept. 2021.

However, all cameras and doorbells in the same Google Nest "home/structure" can be covered by the same Nest Aware or Nest Aware Plus subscription, although you have to use 2 different apps to access the history.

Thanks, good to know all my cameras are recording history.  Now just need to figure out the Google Home app.  Also, on the Google Home app you can view all the cameras (new and old) where as the Nest app you can only view the older cameras.  On the browser, Google Home has minimal functionality.

The home.google.com website is still a "Preview" version. We can only hope that they add to it functionality similar to the home.nest.com website, and do it for ALL cameras.

I agree, when viewing video history, checking settings and making clips I primarily use my computer not my phone.  Better interface and larger screen.

Hi everyone,

@DavidKP thanks for reaching out here in the Community and for sharing with us your concern. Controlling and viewing your new Nest Cameras to the Nest app is not available and as of the moment we don't have any news to share about applying this feature to the Nest app. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. I'd suggest you send feedback about your concern using this form to let the Google Engineering team know about your concern. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this after 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Emerson
