Hey All,
It has become apparent through my own experience and a few threads here, that when operating in wireless mode, the only way to get an audible chime or “dingdong” in the house is to turn on announcements through your Google home devices; trouble is, that option includes a chime sound AND “someone is at the front door” announcement or similar. I need a chime, not an audible verbal reminder of where my doorbell is, just the “dingdong” please. This option doesn’t exist, and it seems simple to me, we need the following option:
announcements ON/OFF
- chime only ON/OFF
- chime and verbal ON/OFF
Are others as irritated by this as me? I truly don’t need Google shouting through the house that someone is at the door, chime is enough. Thoughts??

I don't know if this helps, but you can turn off the notifications on all your devices except one (or two). I have the wired doorbell, and I had the "Ding Dong" (manual chime) as well as the announcement on all devices. At 15 devices, I'm surprised it didn't scare the guest away! Anyway, if you open Google Home app, scroll down and find a device you want to turn off (like a Nest Mini), open the device, open settings (gear icon at top), tap on Notifications & digital wellbeing, tap on Do not disturb, and turn that ON.
I did this for all my devices except on in the bedroom, one in my office and one in our den. All the others are off. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the thought! Doesn’t really address the specific issue at hand though, for me anyways - we need an option for our Google devices to “dingdong” but not issue a highly disruptive verbal notification simultaneously, when they’re in battery mode and not attached to a physical door chime.
It’s clearly possible since it currently does both simultaneously; we just need AND/OR type of option.

I did, thanks, and please do pass along. I love this thing and have no complaints; but our speakers/Google devices as a simple chime, not only “chime+ verbal announcement” is an easy software fix to make our existing Assistant hardware even more useful with the doorbell.
