Nest Camera with floodlights not being added to Google Home but Floodlights work

TSY

Hi--I just got two nest cameras with floodlights installed by a licensed electrician.  He tested that the back camera has electricity running to it but somehow when I try to add the camera to google home as a new device, i keep getting an error.  I know the unit works because the floodlight turns on automatically.  Please help.

Same here. I got it installed, but when “finishing setup” at the end, it said something went wrong.

already did multiple reset and connect. Please help if this is a common issue.

This seems to be an issue today across ALL of their Nest products. Google is staying quiet and stating they never have "issues when setting up their devices".

Same exact thing happening. 250 bucks spent on this crap.

Same problem here, flashlight works, but camera can't finish setup process, and no image showing up at all... I know camera is working since it detects moving objects and sent me notification, but no image showing on google home app. Still calling google, still no one answers... very disappointed...
PS: Why can't we just access/setup this camera via Nest app?

Anyone have a solution ? Should I try again with a reset again?

I tried to reset but still not working, i think it might be a software problem. since the cam does detect movement, just not showing images on the app

I can't believe a software/hardware product has no direct sales support and we have to go to a blog for community help.  They should not offer products for sale that they cannot support.  Does anyone know if there is a process for requesting they send a replacement?  Maybe there are a whole bunch of defective ones?

I was having the same issue yesterday. This is how I solved it.

1. Reset the camera by pressing the small button at the back of the camera until you see the yellow light/sound.

2. When you add a new device from google home app, make sure your QR code placement is correct. The correct QR code placement is such that the little black squares are at the corners except at the lower right corner. Then, follow the onscreen instructions.

After that, floodlight camera was added successfully to my google home app, and now, it's working fine.

I was having the same issue but it eventually connected. I did remove power from the device multiple times through the process.

I also finally resolved the problem. by adding it as a outdoor camera, and NOT as a flashlight. You do have to reset the camera to have a refresh installation, remember to press the button at the back for a while until you hear the chime sound. THIS WAS very frustrating experience, and it was definitely a programming bug with the home app. hopefully google can see this post and fix it. Thank you! PS: camera has good quality, very happy with the hardware.

Having the same issue. I recently purchased two nest cam with floodlight products -- one added to Google Home just fine, the other I have gotten the "something went wrong" error message countless times. I have seen in this and other forums to press the little button on the back of the camera to do a factory reset. My electrician says there is no such button on the back of the camera. Can anyone here be more specific about the reset button I'm looking for on the back of the camera? (I will need to get on my ladder to get up there -- so I'm looking for advice before I go through all that trouble.) Thank you in advance.

Same Issue.  Installed Nest Floodlight camera.  Flood lights do turn on for 30 seconds when motion is detected.  Camera shows a blue light.  Trying to add floodlight camera to pixel Google Home app and it never can connect to the Floodlight.  Tried floodlight camera and regular outdoor camera and will not connect to Google Home phone app.  Tried pressing small button behind camera for 5 seconds and it makes chime sound and still won't connect.  Even tried holding down for 15 seconds for factory reset and still cannot connect to Google Home.  Trying to not use QR code, but I cannot find the 6 character setup code anywhere (not behind camera).  Any help here?

Went to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?hl=en for support.  They had me try a different house that I also have configured.  It got further asking me to press the Nest Protect test button.  At my location I have a Nest Thermostat and a disconnected Nest Protect(just expired).  I reconnected my expired Nest Protect and now Google Home app did eventually connect and asked me to press the Nest Protect button and then the rest successfully connected.  So it other people encounter problems, either make sure all devices are connected or disconnect them all (especially Nest Thermostat).  Hope this solves the problem for everyone else.  Much relieved now that my Floodlight camera is working now

Same issue for me.   I've tried everything suggest here... reset the camera (using the small button on back) multiple times, tied using a different phone, tired configuring it as just a NestCam (rather than Floodlight).   None of them worked - they all produce "Something went wrong" error message, right after the "Connecting to joining device" step of the setup.

I hope someone comes up with a solution for this.

Do you have another Google Nest/Home device configured?  If so, be sure it's connected.  I have a thermostat and a disconnected protect.  Reconnecting my protect solved my issue of "Something went wrong"

Still having issues with adding the outdoor camera/lights to the nest app. They are working fine on google home.

@Dagster

The Nest Cam with Floodlight is not available on the Nest App. It is only available on the Google Home App.

Best regards,

Brad.
