Nest Doorbell Battery at 60% after 3 days

I wonder if anyone can help or advise on this -- My nest doorbell is already at 60% after only a few days. A it's estimating I have 3 days left of battery - so less than a week.

  • Wifi signal is strong and I've moved the router closer (-44 dBm). Streaming is fine. There is a short delay in connecting, but nothing out of the ordinary.
  • I've also set it on the "battery optimized" mode.
  • I'm not in a cold climate - mild summer in Sydney at the moment.
  • I'm on a busy street, but I have the zone small and I only get 4-5 events a day.

What should I do? I'm thinking of returning it. Less than a week battery life really isn't workable! And way of what the documentations suggests.

Ironically this is replacing an Arlo doorbell - which had a half decent battery life, but was just too slow to connect.

Hi there,

Thank you for your patience, and sorry to hear that you're experiencing this. I know that keeping your Nest devices charged is very important, and I would love to help you out. When it comes to keeping your Nest Doorbell (battery) or Nest Cam (battery) up and running, here are some articles and troubleshooting guides for the best charging practices:

  • This is a great article on general charging times for your devices.
  • This helpful article tells you how to save the battery with your doorbell or camera.
  • And this last article, will go over charging expectations when you may live in a cooler/colder environment which will address charging temperatures, etc.

I hope those articles help shed some light on charging and maintaining battery levels of your Nest doorbell or camera. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad

Hey Brad - is this an automated answer? Doesn't really address what I wrote particularly. e.g. I'm in Summer in Sydney - why point me at a cold climate answer?

I've turned on all the optimizations and the battery is just woeful.

These devices are not wired, so they will lose power if not plugged in.
