Nest Doorbell (battery) pin lock stuck, not able to mount anymore after charge

I brought brand new doorbell battery on Nov 2011 from khols, recently the battery drained so I took it out for charging. However, after charge, I found I can't mount it back anymore. After taking a deeper look, I found the pin lock got stuck...

Already called the support and does help too much:

1. Support told me the warranty is just one year.

2. They don't have spare unit for substitute.

It just feel so frustrating for a quite expensive doorbell (almost $200 plus tax), dead in two years, for a part you only touch once during installation..... Seems quite a design flaw from nest that put pin lock on the top, and got stuck by the dust in air.

If you search this forum for "can't remount battery doorbell", you'll find numerous other reports of the same defect.

Here's one from just yesterday, where Google Nest Community Specialist @EdmondB   asked the customer to fill out a form:

FRUSTRATING……I’ve been having the same issue with the doorbell not mounting securely on to the metal bracket (attached to the wedge).  Give this a try.  Push the unlocking key into the top slot of the doorbell a few times this will move the tiny locking dot mechanism (in and out).   Dust and debris build up around the tiny dot which prevents it from protruding out to catch onto the mounting bracket. I think this must be done periodically.  Definitely a design flaw but this works for me for now. PS I found this advice from researching another thread complaining about the same exact issue.

I was able to temporarily fix the mount by following this reddit thread and tear the doorbell apart: (2) Nest Doorbell (Battery) Stuck Latch - Fix : Nest (reddit.com)

This is definitely some design flaw things will broke after first time dismount!
