Nest Drop cam Outdoor

We have an original NEST Drop Cam with damaged power adapter (puck) and cord from the adapter to the wall plug. We still have the wire from the camera to a usable USB end. Can I use a simple block to plug the USB into for power? Or did the power adapter (puck) provide some safety or voltage transition?
