Nest app migratie

Hi RonNestcam,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I'm sorry that you're unable to migrate your Nest account to a Google Home account and informing you that it needs the 6-digit verification code. I understand how frustrating it must be, especially since you've already contacted the Google support team. Let's work together to find a solution.

Just to take into consideration that at the moment to sign in to the Nest App you should need to complete the 2 FA and send the 6-digit code at the phone number that it was registered with when the account was created.

However, you can check the last 4 digits of the phone number where the verification code was sent. Also, if you don't have access to that phone number, you can contact your phone service provider's support for help regaining access to your old phone number. If you can't regain access to your old phone number after contacting their support, you may need to factory reset your Nest products and then add them to the new account.

To provide further assistance, please confirm which Nest products you have.

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron

Hoi Byron,

Groet Ron.

Hi @RonNestcam,

Thanks for following up! I apologize for all the inconveniences with the 2-step verification. Let's work together to resolve this.

Please try the following alternatives:

  • Check your email: Verify that the 2-step verification code isn't in your email inbox or spam folder. Use the email that you used to set up your Nest account.
  • Access Nest Web: Log in to your Nest account on a web browser. This might provide a different method for receiving the verification code.
  • Create a new Nest account: If the previous steps don't resolve the issue, consider creating a new Nest account. You can then migrate your new account to your existing Google account. Please note that devices connected to the old account will need to be factory reset so they can be added to the new Nest account.

For reference, you can check out this article: Add two-step verification to your account on the Nest app.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Hi RonNestcam,

Thanks for your reply!

I understand how inconvenient it is resetting your Nest cameras since there’s no physical button to reset.  In this case, I’d recommend the following steps:

  • Unplug the camera(s).
  • Wait at least 48 hours (2 days).
  • If you’re able, try changing the WiFi network SSID. This is because if you plug the camera back in without changing your WiFi network details, the cameras reconnect to the server and block the Bluetooth pairing process. Note that this step may temporarily disconnect any devices that are currently connected to the WiFi network.
  • Plug the cameras back into a power outlet and connect them to the account using the new WiFi network SSID.
  • Once they're paired, change the WiFi network SSID back to the original SSID.
  • Use the Nest app to update the camera's WiFi settings to reflect the original SSID.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
