Nest doorbell battery chime in house

How can I get the nest battery doorbell to ring in my home without always having my phone tied to me or volume up, and without having any other smart home / google hub devices? Thanks!

If you don't want to use "Visitor announcements" that are sent to a Nest Hub, Nest Mini, or Nest speakers (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451?hl=en), your other alternative is to wire your battery doorbell to an indoor doorbell chime and transformer.

Hello, I have installed a google nest mini and have visitor notifications on, but do not hear any notification on the mini when someone is at the door or rings the doorbell.  I have checked the wifi connection, and also all settings as set to on. In the doorbell settings section, the "Ring indoor chime" option is greyed out.  Please advise.

I would suggest that you restart your Google Nest Mini, which you can find out more here. That way, it can clear out whatever issues it's experiencing and should hopefully allow you to make sure that setting is enabled.

Best regards,

Brad

@amatshaf

If your battery doorbell is NOT wired, it seems the "Indoor chime" option is grayed out and disabled because a chime cannot be rung without wires.

If you have "Visitor announcements" enabled on your doorbell and your doorbell and Nest Mini are in the same Google Nest "home/structure", the only other thing that should prevent "visitor announcements" is if you have "Do not disturb" enabled on your Nest Mini.

Ah thanks for clarifying. Our doorbell is digital to begin with so had to go with the battery option. As I don’t wish to be tied to my phone to hear when someone’s at the door really hoping the mini starts notifying us, somehow when the bell is rung. visitor announcements are on but even on my phone those are sporadic. I’ve since rebooted the nest mini and will test it again.
