Nest doorbell motion

I have a gen one nest doorbell wireless. I set it up and I followed the setup process fully, the only issue with the process is it doesn't tell you when to switch from it being plugged in to when you put it up. Anyways that's not the issue. The issue is I only get motion notifications if I have recently checked the camera on the app, then the camera will stay on for a couple minutes and then idle. I do understand this is supposed to happen in some regards to save battery. Now you are probably thinking maybe it is a battery saver setting that I have on. This is not the case, I have automatic battery saver off, battery use is set to more recording. I have set up the event zone and turned on notifications for people, packages, animals, and general motions. (once again I do have “your notifications” on for each) I made sure the zone is good. I have moved the camera around, I have put it both inside and outside. Even after all that I tried a regular reset of 6 seconds, let it sit, and problem still occurred, so then I tried a hard resetting it by holding the button for 12 seconds, and setting it up again, and the issue still persisted. Also, my wifi is fast and never has been an issue for anything that's intensive on wifi before. It is a 5ghrtz wifi. It is not any issue with me receiving the notifications, I know this because I already get them when someone rings the doorbell and even I go to the app there is no history of anything happens, even though I have 3 hours of capture, but If i walk in my door 20 mins after closing the app no events will even be registered until I open the app again, and even then there is no record of anything that happened after I closed the app, like it doesn't capture the event or show it as even happening in event history

I meant to say that I don't think it is a problem with my phone notifications, because I will get the event notifications before the doorbell goes back into idle, and when someone rings the doorbell, it will notify me, but anyways it doesn't in idle at all, and shows no history of anything happening (unless doorbell isrung )

You actually have the 2nd gen battery (wireless) doorbell.  There is no 1st gen version.

We have a 2nd gen battery camera.  On your doorbell, under Settings | Events do you have a "Wake-up sensitivity" option?  Ours is set to "High".

When running on battery power, it's normal for the battery cameras and doorbells to go into "Idle" mode, and the battery doorbell always runs on battery power even when wired.  And in "Idle" mode they don't always wake up in time to detect an event, though I don't know why it's working for Motion events and not others.

so there is no option for wake-up sensitivity, and i can stand there for five minties waving my arms close and far in front of it and it will not pick up unless I open the app or just have, and it doesn't work for motion events when in idle nor any other events no matter how much time you give it to wake up, it won't capture it

Maybe the battery doorbell doesn't provide wake-up sensitivity, even though it's listed as an option here:

You could try contacting Support; maybe you have a defective doorbell:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Select your device from the dropdown, click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

google couldn't figure it out, they had to send it to the supervisor, and the supervisor couldn't figure it out so now they're sending my case to the engineers
