Nest forcing customers to migrate to continue using NetAware feature

What gives?  I understand product integration is difficult, but really?

The Nest camera history / aka Nest Aware feature turned off on me.

Now, I'm being required to migrate to google if I want to subscribe to the new NestAware.  How do I do that if I'm a Google G-Suite customer?  Nest says G-suite accounts are not allowed.  That's the only google email my company has.

I am a long-time user of G-Suite.  My companies use G-Suite.  My companies own the properties and the cameras.

I bought a bunch of Nest Thermostats for my vacation rentals.  They have mostly worked well (1 died this winter and the furnace guy couldn't figure out how to enable a new one that worked with my app when I was 1000 miles away).

I then bought a bunch of Nest Cameras.  These worked fairly well.  Note that some of these are in Arizona and are outside where the temp today is 106 degrees in the shade.  The outdoor Nest Cameras say they don't work in temps that high...how are they sold in Arizona?

I then bought a bunch of Nest smoke detectors.

(I would have bought water leak sensors too but there aren't any.)

In all, I've been pretty happy.  The primary reason I've been happy with the products is because there's a single interface for all of the properties.

Happy until now, that is.

The video history turned off on me.  I don't know if the subscription I paid for expired but I'm being asked to migrate to enable NestAware to view the historical video.

I can't do that since my company that owns the cameras, thermostats, smoke detectors uses Google G-Suite.

This is a big product miss by the Google team.  It's also a product misrepresentation since I can't use NestAware using my google gmail account or technically use an outdoor camera in Arizona.

Any suggestions?

A.  Create a login on gmail and give everyone the password?

B.  How do I deal with an employee with a personal gmail account having access to Nest?

C.  Have all of the Nest products removed and returned?  My friend tells me I should be using Arlo.

Hi, Pasman.

I'm sorry for the frustration you've had with the transition to Google Home. You're correct that G-Suite accounts won't work to manage your account, so you will need to create a regular Google account separately. For managing access, you could share the login info with your employees, or you could add people who need access to the Home account through invites. Seeing as you are going to be sharing access, I would suggest creating a new account specifically for use here.

The G-Suite question comes up from time to time, and it's a suggestion I can pass along to our internal teams to have reviewed. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

- Jeff
