New Google/Nest Battery cam will not connect to wifi.

Help oh wise ones...  I have 2 original Nest cameras that work flawlessly.  I've tried to add a new Google/Nest battery camera.  Must use the google home app.  I've followed set up instructions and all troubleshooting tips including resetting (starlink) router, resetting battery camera, turning off/ on bluetooth on my iPhone 16, moved device within 3 feet of router, kissed it on its head and prayed to the wifi gods..  It is unable to connect to wifi in the home app period.  I tried all steps in order they recommended within troubleshooting scripts.  Starting to loose my sense of humor.  What am I missing?  Why are we able to purchase these devices only to not be able to use them?  There are too many people with this issue without a solid response from Google.  Class action catches attention.  Thank you in advance if you can keep me from poking a stick in my eye.

Were you able to resolved this? We have the 2nd gen camera (battery) for outdoor, we changed modem. I have to factory reset our doorbell and was able to connect , but there’s outdoor camera won’t connect at all. We even have a WiFi extender near it. It’s so frustrating.

EnclaveRes, I haven't received a reply or found the solution and frankly I'm thinking of trying to return the device and go to a competitor.  It just shouldn't have to be this difficult and the merge of Nest with Google has done nothing but muddy the great  brand of Nest.

I’m sorry to hear that, but good news on my part with my outdoor camera, it finally connected. The steps that I did is as follows:

1. I used a push pin to used on the reset button, the status light will

turn off, and then turn solid white after a few seconds.

You'll need to keep holding the restart or reset button to factory reset.

2. As you continue to hold the restart or reset button, your camera will count down to its factory reset and the status light will blink yellow. Your camera will also play a countdown tone.

3. The status light will appear solid yellow when the factory reset has begun. Your camera will also play a tone to confirm the factory reset.

4. Then I quickly added it to my google home app.

i hope this helps.

So glad you got that worked out and huge thanks for laying the steps out.  I've reset my camera several times without luck unfortunately.  I appreciate you sharing your process I'm certain it will help someone.

You're welcome, I'm sorry your camera isn't working. For some reason it's happening to a lot of people. And most of the time, no one is replying to anyone.

I agree, it shouldn’t be did hard. We also have ring camera and we never had an issue with it.

It has to be a built in bug that never got fixed or something

I had the same issue, it also kept turning off so I missed a lot of security footage. I have given up and replaced it with a Eufy which is 100 times better on everything.

I think I'm going to do the same. Thank you for the lead on a good system. I'm going to take a peek.

Hi kikicoyote,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble connecting your new Google Nest Camera (battery) to your Starlink WiFi network. It's understandable to feel frustrated when a new device isn't working as expected. I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you’ve tried to resolve the inconvenience and letting us have important information, such as your original Nest cameras working flawlessly. No worries, help is here.

To better assist you, I would appreciate it if you answered the following questions:

  • What's the exact error code or message that you see when you try to connect your camera to the WiFi?
  • How far is the camera from the router?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?
  • Could you describe the steps you took to perform the factory reset?
  • What color is the LED status light after performing a factory reset?
  • Are you able to see your Starlink WiFi network listed in the Google Home app during the setup process for the camera?
  • Do you have any other mesh WiFi systems or WiFi extenders in your home besides the Starlink router?

In the meantime, please double-check these common recommendations:

  • Ensure you're using the correct WiFi network name and password.
  • Try restarting your Nest cameras and your Starlink router.
  • If your Starlink router offers both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi bands, try connecting the camera specifically to the 2.4 GHz band, as some devices prefer this for initial setup.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
