It amazes me that Google Nest projects a sense of security and safety, yet I have to pay for a subscription to watch ANY of my own camera’s saved footage. Clearly they have the ability to provide me access, and it must be saved SOMEWHERE if I will be able to see it once I sign up for *Nest Aware.* They can view my own camera’s history of MY home more than I can unless I pay x amount of dollars.
It’s sad and wrong to take advantage of people’s well being for money. I paid hundreds for the device in 2018 after my house was robbed and completely ransacked… in hopes that it would give me some peace of mind. I was young and naive; I hoped for the best with my new, expensive, home-security camera (that friends and family chipped in to helped me pay for) and didn’t realize back then that this big company didn’t actually give a single **bleep** about me. It was just another money-making move. Sure, this is just the world we live in and it’s all about making an extra dollar, but it’s gross to make people feel like they have to pay for safety.
The ones at the top of the Google pyramid reap the benefits of people willing to throw money at whatever it takes to feel like they have a sense of security and control. Shameful and disappointing ethics. The manipulation is very smart and tactical, so props to them for that, I guess!

Google Nest does not save our video history on its servers if we do not have a subscription.
Without a subscription, event video history is saved on 2nd gen cameras and doorbells for the most recent 3 hours, and photo snapshots of activity for the most recent 3 hours are saved on 1st gen cameras and doorbells.
