Re: Nest doorbell gen 2 wired keeps disconnecting, and chime not ringing

I am having similar problems with my Nest cam. It first started with the doorbell. It stopped working. And so did the two-way speakers.  It used to be able to record events, but now when someone gets within 10 feet of my front door, without fail, that's when the camera goes offline. As soon as that person moves out of camera view, the Nest cam is live again!  What good is a security camera if it will not even record strangers at my door? It used to work great. I know it's not my internet connection. I have tried resetting, rewiring and everything else I can think of. I also had an indoor Nest cam, and that one stopped working last year. Is it the Nest brand? Sure looks that way. I have a bad feeling the answer to your question, and to my own Nest trouble, is to buy a new doorbell cam. Obviously, not from Nest.

Hi @5Greenthumbs,

Thank you for reaching out and detailing the frustrating issues you're experiencing with your Nest Cam, especially on top of the problems you had with your Nest Doorbell. It sounds incredibly inconvenient that your camera is going offline precisely when it should be recording activity at your door, and I understand your concern about the reliability of the Nest ecosystem.

Based on this information, I'd like to ask you more about this concern. I'm here to assist you further!

  • What model of Nest camera do you have?
  • Are you getting any error messages?
  • How far is the camera from the router?
  • Has the camera ever successfully connected to this network?

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,

Eduardo
