doorbell gen 2 wired offline

Less than 24 hrs since I installed the doorbell and it’s gone offline. My nest thermostat is totally fine. This is a security product, and going offline is not really acceptable, as I may be relying on the devices while away from home. Is this a common issue with the nest security products?

Interestingly when I left the house, I got a notification and a video recording of myself. The Google Home app still reported that the doorbell was offline, but the notification and recording still happened in the background. Restarting the Google Home app showed the doorbell online again. So not as bad a situation as I originally thought, but still seems to be a bug somewhere.

Hey there,

Thanks for bringing up the concern you're having. I'd love to look into this for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This might be helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

Brad,

I did not have to restart the device. It was a restart of the Google Home app that did the trick. This is a better outcome, as it's not possible to restart the nest device(s) themselves if I am away from home.

True, you are not able to restart them from afar. Only in person.
