Ads auto playing on Chromecast home screen!

The latest Chromecast 4K update has allowed fast food ads to play automatically in the background of my TV home screen.  I specifically pay for services that don't have commercials or ads, and the introduction of this on my home screen is infuriating.  For the last decade, I've used Google pixel phones, nest cameras, thermostats, Chromecasts, pixel watch and earbuds, etc but I will walk away from this Google ecosystem if you're forcing ads like this onto all of my TVs.  I will not give my attention or business to this kind of thing and recommend rethinking your strategy.  I also pay for YouTube premium to avoid this kind of thing.  I need this fixed or an opt-out feature ASAP.  Very disappointed.  Do better.

Hi Outboarder,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Did it update to Android TV OS build STTL.231114.004? Try to do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset and setting it up from scratch to remove any corrupted files or data. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hi Kimy, thanks for reaching out.  Since running into this issue, I remembered that I was part of a few beta programs and maybe something was acting up because of that.  I have since reset my Chromecasts and removed myself from several beta programs that may have been affecting my experience on some Google devices.  Since doing so, I haven't run into this issue.  I would like to clarify my complaint because I realize there are "ads" or recommendations for TV programming already and that's nothing new.  I dislike this and would prefer an experience truly tailored to me instead of who's paying for my reach, but the complaint that started all of this was seeing fast food chicken tenders advertised to me as a homescreen background.  I'm focused on good health, good habits, and not giving my attention to different screens all day--especially this year.  Getting fast food ads in my face when I pay extra for services that don't have any ads and I'm just trying to have my TV turned on is pretty infuriating and what really set me off.  I'm glad to see this wasn't still happening after resetting my device.  If this is an upcoming update or business strategy that Google is working on, I want to speak out loudly against that.  I will stop using my TV altogether at a certain point, or see whether Apple TV does this kind of thing better.  (I wouldn't know since I've always bought Google everything).  Anyways--sorry for the rambling and this issue is resolved for now.
