Chromecast Apps search read out loud - how to turn off?

Hi!

Every time I search for an App the Google voice assistant reads out loud the app and it is very annoying. I have been trying to figure out how to turn it off and I can’t find a solution. I kind of think I can’t turn it off but I did not find a proper answer that confirms it.

I use an iPhone 14 Pro and I use the Google Chromecast the latest one, all updates are installed, the talkback feature is disabled and sound settings are off. I even restored the chromecast a few times because I thought the issue is related to settings I can’t find.

I tried finding any settings in my Google account

but I can’t find anything that solves my issue.

Does anyone know how to turn off this apps search reader thing? It is really annoying and loud.

Hi AMCpalace,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Since you’ve already performed a factory reset and set it up as it is without changing any settings, this means it is running on its default settings. This actually depends on how you determine what is loud to you. The Google Assistant would react to your query, which means even if you switched off the talkback feature on the device, it would still respond to your command. If you don’t want to hear it, you can turn off the Google Assistant completely. If you find the assistant’s voice too loud, you can adjust the volume. You also have the option to choose different voices.

I hope this sheds some light on the situation. Let us know if you have other concerns.

Thanks,

Kimy
