Gen3 vs other apps

Argggga I think I might have stepped off the end of the flat earth and broke my chromecast when I landed on the turtle's head.  K, everthing was working fine and then now my utube and tubi apps get stuck on auto play and chromecast can't find them so I can switch over between apps.  I go to the home page and it displays "not connected."  I try and switch between apps hit the cast square and it's a "searching for devices. "  In fact I don't even have to switch between the apps, I might decide I don't like what I'm watching and poof its "searching for devices. "

My fix so far has been to just unplug the power cord for ten minutes and restart my android which seems to work till chromecast gets lost again.  Oh and this has been going on for maybe 8 months and I'm starting to think that the dongle I purchased made it to Walmart on a short bus.

So, can anyone throw me a rope and pull me up off of this turtle's head?

Hello Michael59,

 

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Please try to use a different mobile phone and plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV. Rebooting your Wi-Fi router might also help.

 

If the issue persists, perform a factory reset on your Chromecast. Also, if this is only happening with these apps, try to reach out to the app developer for additional help.

Not is how it is going.  I have uninstalled the home app and then it worked till it got plans of its own, then I reinstalled home.  Then it quit again so I restarted the router and it worked till it dint.  I unplugged the 3rd generation dongle and got 'attic tv" but no connection soon I pulled the plug and let it all die then plugged it back in while restarting my phone.

U know??? I've noticed that sometimes the TV screen uses my screen name ###bone head### has added to the q.  And, sometimes it designates 'Android #'s' has added to the q.

I do wonder, I really do, if I should put the dongle on a short bus to the edge of the world?

I'm going to try a different hdmi port next, just 4 amusement.

Thanks for getting back to us. Have you tried resetting your Chromecast? If you haven't yet, please try that and let me know how it goes. Also, did you already try to plug in your device on a different HDMI port on your TV?
