I see this is a recurring issue i.e. Google chromecast remote overheating. Have they managed to resolve this issue. I purchased this 7 months ago and already faulty. The steps they advise are also flawed, as you cannot factory reset with a faulty remote. So now the system is stuck in remote pairing mode. You also cannot use a remote app because the device must be on the same network, which you cannot do because it's stuck in remote pairing mode. The help desk and their advice is a joke

An overheating remote is not only frustrating, but also potentially dangerous. In this scenario, if you've already tried basic troubleshooting, such as replacing the batteries, you'll want to look at replacing the device.
