Open Chrome Cast battery compartment?

How the hell do you open the battery compartment on the Chrome Cast?????

I've used all my strength and it won't open!!!

Design flaw if I've ever seen one!!!   I've arthritis but it doesn't affect that much!

Geesh someone please tell me how.   I've already watched the video.   I'm going to crack it open with a screwdriver shortly.

It's brand new!

It's not open it with the screwdriver if there is not a visible screw! You get the power from a cord, (and USB to micro USB will do! Then plug the USB side in to a block that plugs to the wall. There is no battery compartment you will forever ruin your device.

Replying to myself- it's become my experience that If there isn't a visible way to open something you will probably not find an easy fix inside the product if you bust it open

Hi @Bobmerritt58

Did you get it open? I also have hand problems so I totally empathize with the trouble opening the battery compartment. Be sure to push down while sliding the compartment door.

See if this video helps. You do need to slide it kinda hard. Sounds like you are doing it correctly so just a bit more force should open the back up.

Hello there,

I appreciate your help, JillG and Nicoleb5927.

Bobmerritt58, I'm sorry to hear about that. Some might feel it's hard to remove the battery cover — this design is intentional, but if you still can't remove the cover when you slide it forcefully, please try the following steps below:

  1. Stick one end of a cellophane tape to the bottom of the back of the remote. Use the other end of the cellophane tape as a pull tab.
  2. Pull the end of the cellophane tape as you press the circular dented surface firmly.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Thanks I was finally able to open it using a kitchen jar opener friction pad.    I was a designer in a former life.

That battery cover could be vastly improved simply by adding friction bumps or slots on the back.   The remote is all polished surfaces where it needs a good gripping surface even for just holding it.   This is the worst out of all my remotes!
