Remote jumps too many items

I have the new Chromecast TV device. The remote would jump. Many items at a time doesn't seem to matter what app you're in. You click it once to go One direction and it might go five or six at a time. Very frustrating. Thought it was the remote, bought a new device and paired the remote. Same behavior. So swapped out the whole device. So now I have a completely new remote and Chromecast TV device and the behavior coming back after a day. So clearly this is a software issue. Not a hardware issue or I have two bogus devices. So I went to help but of course the help app doesn't work. It says try submitting your help question. Again. Very frustrating. So now I'm posting in this forum. I really like the user interface better than my roku's but if all it's going to do is bounce around I'm have to go back to my roku's.

Hey there Tkarez,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that remote jumping issue? If not, I'd be happy to help you out. First, I would make sure that your Chromecast's firmware is up-to-date. Also make sure that your Chromecast Voice Remotes are up-to-date as well; here is how to do so:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Device information.
  5. Under "Remotes and accessories," tap Chromecast Voice Remote.
  6. Tap Update firmware.

If you have trouble using the normal remotes to update the firmware, go ahead and use the virtual remote on the Google Home app. I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.
