Searching for a specific channel

During the setup, search across all apps was turned on. How do I turn it off? When I'm in Pluto TV, if I ask "Go to Johnny Carson TV" Chromecast goes to YouTube when I wanted a search within the app.

Hey there Kenneth47,

I apologize for the late response, thank you for being patient! The best way to specify what app to use is just to add the app you want to search at the end of your query. For example, I could say "Google Home on YouTube.", and it will search for Google Home channels and videos on YouTube. Or, I could say "Stranger Things on Netflix.", and the assistant will pull up Stranger Things on the Netflix app.

I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Thanks for responding, I have already tried this, sometimes it works, but it is inconsistent. My question is that during setup, search across all apps was turned on, but there does not seem to be a way to turn it off?

Hey there Kenneth47,

In this case, go ahead and go to your Google TV Settings > Accounts & Sign In > Google Assistant > Searchable Apps. From here, you can toggle which apps you would like to show up in your search results. You can also toggle Safesearch filter to filter out any explicit content. Once you check out those settings, see if changing things around helps at all.

Thank you,
Jeran

When I go to > Searchable Apps, the screen shows nothing, even when selected, the entire screen is blank.

BYW, I only have 5 apps, Youtube, Amazon Video, PlutoTV, Bloomberg & Xumo.

Hey there Kenneth47,

Once again, I apologize for my slow response time. Just out of curiosity, do you have your services added to Google TV? Here is how to check:

  1. From the Google TV home screen, scroll your profile picture.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Accounts & Sign In.
  4. Choose your profile and select Your services.
  5. Scroll right and turn each service on or off.
  6. To save the selection and exit the screen, scroll left.

Go ahead and check out this article for some more information on that process, as well as how to add services.

Best regards,

Jeran

I have certain services added like Pluto, Xumo & Bloomberg, and I had already turned off most of the built-in services as well as uninstalling most of the built-in apps.

When I turned the device on today, I spent more time having to watch ads, and even when watching a YouTube video, ads would cut in at random completely destroying the viewing experience.

The bottom line is this chromecast is pretty much useless, and if I do use it, I'll cast what I want from my PC or phone.

Hey there Kenneth47,

I apologize for the late response on this thread, and I appreciate your patience. I understand where you are coming from when it comes to advertisements. In this case, would you be able to submit feedback via Google TV to let Google know about your experience with the Chromecast? That way, they can keep your feedback in mind for future updates.

In the meantime, did you have any other questions we can address? If not, I'll go ahead and lock the thread within 24 hours.

Thank you,
Jeran
