Trouble with remote control

Poloche

Hi everyone

Yesterday I had troubles with my remote control with Chromecast 4k.

First, a few buttons didn't work. I tried to test the batteries, changed them... The remote eventually didn't work at all, all the buttons.

So I tried to remove them again, wait for 5 seconds, did the home+back buttons as described on so many threads on the web. Everything. Nothing worked. No white light on my remote.

I tried then the Chromecast factory reset... What a mistake ! Sadly, the first thing that's asked to do is to connect the remote with the home-back buttons... Great Google but since the remote doesn't work I can't even connect the Chromecast at all anymore !!

Anyone with the same issue? Any solution here?

Tx

Hi Poloche,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Let’s try this workaround and let me know how it goes:

  • Remove the batteries and give it a 2 to 3 minute rest.
  • While the batteries are out, press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to fully drain any static power left on the chipset/motherboard of the Chromecast Voice remote, then release the button.
  • Let the remote rest again for 2 to 3 minutes. Take this time to unplug the Chromecast device from power and give it a 1 minute rest before you plug it back in.
  • Proceed with the setup and see if it pairs.
  • If it persists, you can factory reset the remote one last time and pair it again.

We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy

Many thanks Kimy

First steps didn't work but the factory reset of the remote has solved the problem.
