help installing chromecast

When I download the Google Home App, as the instructions say, it keeps asking me to pay a fee. I saw on the web that it is free to use.

It sounds like you downloaded the wrong (copycat) app; Google Home IS free.

Make sure it says the app is published by "Google LLC".

If you have an Apple device, you want this:  https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-home/id680819774

Google Home is NOT available for computers.  You have to use a compatible phone or tablet.
