2 banners for one notification

NihihigO

Hi guys,

I have 2 cameras and 1 doorbell linked to my account and my issue is with the notification of all these devices.

When the camera or doorbell sees a person, I get a notification on my phone, however lately I've been getting 2 banners for 1 notification. So every time I get 1 notification I get 2 banners for it.

When I check the notification centre I only see one banner for the one notification, but when my phone is unlocked I get two banners at the top of the screen.

I use an iphone 14 pro with ios 17.0.1.

Thanks in advance.

@NihihigO

Do you by any chance have more than one Google Account set up in your Google Nest "household", and are you signed on to both of those accounts on your phone?

Sorry for the late reaction..

No, just the one Google account needed for the app to work..

Maybe it’s an iOS thing, but Google Home is the only app that produces to banners for one notification. So maybe it’s caused by a recent update of the app? But then more users should have the same issue I guess..

Hello NihihigO,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you're having issues with the Google Home app notifications. Let's check it out.

If you haven’t done so already, update the Google Home app from the Apple App Store.

  1. Check for any iOS updates and install them if there’s any.
  2. Uninstall the Google Home app.
  3. Restart the iPhone.
  4. Re-install the Google Home app.
  5. Trigger a notification and check if you still receive two banner notifications.

Here’s a guide to learning more about the iOS notification settings.

Let me know how it goes.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Lance

Thanks for getting back to me.

I've tried all of the above but I keep getting 2 banners for 1 notification.

Hi folks,

If you’re still not having any luck getting notifications, check if you can get them on a friend or family member’s phone or tablet. With their permission, install the Nest app and sign in to your account to check if you can get notifications on their device. Make sure to sign out of your account in the Nest app on their device when you’re done.

I appreciate the input, @MplsCustomer and Lance.

Thanks,

Jenelyn

Hi Jenelyn,

I've tried this on my girlfriends phone and the issue occurs there as well.

Thanks,
Nico

@NihihigO

Are you getting duplicate notifications for the same exact event at the exact same time in the same exact activity zone for the exact same camera?

I think that should only happen if you're logged into more than one Google account on your iPhone, and both Google accounts are configured for your Google Nest "household".

HOW notifications display is affected by whether you've selected "Count", "Stack", or "List" under Settings | Notifications on your iPhone.

Hello everyone,

@NihihigO, thanks for updating us. To confirm, is your same account signed in on a different device? What is the model and iOS version of your iPhone? Have you tried checking the email address/es linked to your iPhone? Try reinstalling your Google Home app and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for answering, MplsCustomer, Lance and Jen.

Hi,

I get 1 notification for 1 event, but somehow that 1 notification triggers 2 banners.

So on the top of the screen 1 banner appears and then disappears and then I get another banner for the same event.

Thanks,
Nico
