Assistant TV control

Right someone needs to help me with this one. We have a Sony Bravia TV with Google built-in. We've had the TV for about a year. All of a sudden we ask the Google assistant (Google home speaker) to turn off the TV. It works when I say it, but when my Partner says it, Google confirm the TV is being turned off but does nothing only does it for me. We have multiple speakers in the house and it's the same result on them all. However it works for a separate TV with Chromecast. Does anyone have any answers to why it's happening?

Quirky behaviour would suggest power cycling the tv fully (actually unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug back in), also a router reboot and google home reboot may be in order as well.  Please dont factory reset anything yet, lets see if a power cycle works first.
