Automations not working

I have had a Google Home Mini in my bedroom for years. Never had any issues whatsoever. A few weeks ago one of my bulbs in a bedside lamp went out. I replaced the bulb and after many many searches found out how to get it to finally connect to the app. (I had been linked through Geeni for my old bulbs and now Google won’t recognize the new bulb in Geeni. I linked through Smart Life and it worked). My lamps will turn on and off with no problem if I say “turn on/off the lights” but it will not work in my “Good night/Good morning” automations. The other actions will perform but then the speaker says “one or more devices is not available- please try setting up again”

I have unlinked and re linked Smart Life. I have removed and added the bulbs multiple times. I have deleted and re downloaded both the Google home and Smart Life apps. Nothing seems to resolve this. The bulbs seem set up as they work properly when I say “Turn off/turn on” they just will not work with the automations. Any suggestions?

Is the bulb in your 'Home' and in a Room in the Google Home app?

Yes to both. I have a lamp on each nightstand- both have a bulb. Each bulb is in my home and in “master bedroom”

A screenshot of the of the Goodnight Automation might help us.

But try making a new Automation with the voice event of say "Time for bed".

Add the problem bulb first and test it.

Then the other actions and devices individually. Keep testing.

a screenshot of the “goodnight” automation. I tried making a new automation like you said, “time for bed” and neither of the bulbs worked on this either. However- the speaker said “device is failing” instead of “try setting up again”

Another weird thing… I removed all the actions and literally left one lamp to try and it will still trigger the fan to turn on even though that action isn’t in the automation. This is honestly the most annoying thing- I’ve never had a single issue in years of use and now I don’t even feel like it’s worth all this trouble.

That automation looks simple enough.

I know you said you unlinked/linked the app, but Reconnecting the app might have been a better solution.

But the damage might have already been done and resetting your lights from scratch (delete from Smart Life app and reset) might be required.

I asked the question of Google... "is reconnecting the same as unlinking and linking in Google Home app"

My device didn’t have this option to click the cogwheel and select forget. I ended up deleting my home in the app, doing a factory reset of the Google home mini, and then setting everything up again. This worked- for now.
