Automations to control smart plug with google nest thermostat 3rd generation

Hello, I'm seeking advice on how to set up my HVAC system. I'd like to have the control and booster fan connected to a smart plug so that the fan is active when the HVAC is heating or cooling, and off when the HVAC is off. I don't see enough flexibility in the automation. Has anyone found a way to do this?

thanks

Hi denprze,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you are looking to control the fan with a smart plug that can activate and turn off this when it is cooling or heating. Don't worry; help is here. Let me tell you that the forced-air systems can run the fan whenever they're heating or cooling. If your forced air system has a separate fan wire in your Nest thermostat's G terminal, you can run the system fan when it's not heating or cooling too. If not, your fan will only run automatically when your system is heating or cooling. But if you have a system with a dedicated fan wire, you can manually turn on the fan with the app or your thermostat or set a fan schedule. For example, you can set the fan to run all night and automatically turn off in the morning.

You can check the "Fan control with a Nest Thermostat" article for detailed information.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Jenny
